The scope of work will provide a roadmap to the Office of Sustainability for strategies, incentives and interventions that can be implemented over the near term, midterm and long term. Other Details A. Consultant shall perform a variety of sustainability consulting services as they relate to the completion of a Comprehensive Shade and Heat Mitigation Plan for Multimodal Transportation (CSHMP) for the City of Palm Springs (City). B. Purpose of Comprehensive Shade and Heat Mitigation Multi-modal Transportation Plan: a. The CSHMP will provide a roadmap to the City and the Office of Sustainability for strategies, incentives and interventions that can be implemented in the City. b. The time frame for these elements should be considered over the Near-term (“Near,” within one to two years) Midterm (“mid,” three - five years) and Long term (“Long” ten – fifteen years plus). c. The CSHMP should build on the City’s Vision and provide a framework of strategies, objectives, and implementation measures that guide the City’s efforts to mitigate extreme heat, expand equitable shade access, and enhance multimodal transportation resilience. C. The Comprehensive Shade and Heat Mitigation Plan shall serve as a guiding framework for developing and implementing strategies that enhance climate resilience and adaptive multi-modal transportation throughout the City. The results of the analyses and equity studies will provide the City with a clear roadmap for prioritizing investments, shaping policies, and identifying targeted mitigation and adaptation measures while addressing extreme heat and shade inequities. Notes It is the City’s intent to award a contract to the firm that can provide all of the scope of work, equipment and services identified in the RFP document. However, the City reserves the right to award a contract, or to make no award, whichever is in the best interest of the City. It is anticipated that award of the contract will occur at the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting after the evaluation committee has made its final selection of the firm to be recommended for award and a contract has been negotiated and agendized for consideration.
